Consultation on improving the Out of Home food environment in Scotland

30 November 2018

Food Standards Scotland have published their consultation paper on proposals to improve the Out of Home (OoH) food environment in Scotland.  The consultation closes on 28 February 2019.

The role that OoH food outlets have in helping Scotland progress towards its dietary goals cannot be underestimated, with over 30,000 out of home food outlets in Scotland and 948 million visits to these establishments in 2015.  In Scotland, up to 25% of our total calories are consumed outside of the home.  The consultation lays out proposed measures to improve the healthy food and drink options available in these types of establishments.

Feedback from the consultation will help to inform the recommendations taken to Scottish Government Ministers on the development of the Out of Home Strategy.
