Removing the apple from menus - important changes to the healthyliving award November 2011
Until now healthyliving award applicants have used the ‘apple’ logo on menus and at point of sale to identify healthyliving choices. In line with EU Regulations on Nutrition and Health Claims in Food, businesses are no longer able to make health claims for specific foods – this means healthyliving award sites can no longer use the ‘apple’ logo or any other symbol to highlight menu items.
In line with the EU Regulation, all our award holders and registered caterers must remove the apple logo from menus and point of sale by the end of December 2011.
The healthyliving award works with a network of highly trained assessors who carry out assessment visits in their local area as and when required. With a growing number of caterers all across Scotland applying for the award, we need to expand our team of assessors.
If you think you may have what it takes, we would be eager to hear from you wherever you live in Scotland.
