Apples no longer on the menu

14 February 2012

From 1st January 2012 award holders and registered businesses can no longer use the apple symbol to highlight healthier choices on menus or at the point of sale. This change comes about as a result of new EU legislation designed to protect consumers from potentially misleading health claims.

The healthyliving award continues to be the sign of healthier food and its benefits remain the same - customers know the food is always made with their health in mind.Premises can still display the award logo as long as it is not beside any particular food items. The logo lets customers know the caterer holds the award or is working towards it.

We have developed new promotional materials for award holders to help promote understanding and awareness of the healthier practices they use.
