Excellence shines

At the Catering in Scotland (CiS) Excellence Awards on the 31st May, attended by the cream of the Scottish hospitality, tourism and catering sectors, businesses were celebrated for creativity, innovation and excellence across 17 award categories.

The Healthier Scotland award category, sponsored by the healthyliving award, recognises organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to supporting and promoting healthier eating, and addressing health inequalities.  

Congratulations to this year’s CiS Excellence Award Healthier Scotland winner - ESS Offshore Food Operations and Nutrition Team.  ESS fought off tough competition from the other finalists Aramark at AEGON and Buchanan Bistro.

Obesity is prevalent in the offshore industry and ESS has, as a result, further developed their health and wellbeing package. They have worked to develop ‘nutritionist choices’ to guide their customers to healthier choices, ensuring price is no barrier. They support local suppliers and local produce is integrated into initiatives. A range of services which could help breakdown health inequalities, are offered including; training and career development paths for staff, support for local school initiatives and lifestyle information and services for staff and customers.  Well done!
