285g short-grain rice
5 pints semi-skimmed milk
85g caster sugar
Natural juice from a tin of fruit cocktail


  • Place the milk in a pan, add the rice and cook for 30 minutes (15 minutes for five people)
    Add the fruit cocktail juice and sugar and cook for a further 15 minutes (5 – 10 minutes for 5 people) or until the rice is cooked
  • Taste and if not sweet enough, try adding dried fruit to the dish rather than more sugar.
