Helping you on your way to the Award

Helping you on your way to the Award
Your healthyliving award starter pack will be winging its way to you in the post as soon as possible after you have registered.  This pack contains a wide range of promotional materials, and we have some advice on how they can be used most effectively.

  • Our apple logo comes in many forms and sizes.  Small and medium apple stickers are available, along with large healthyliving award fridge stickers.  Use these to highlight healthyliving choices on your menus, or to label products on shelves.  Logos can also be sent to you electronically.
  • Ensure you work your way through the guidance pack before using the apple logo, as you will have a better idea of what items to label as healthyliving choices.  This will also save you wasting stickers and ensure you have enough for your assessment visit.
  • Put your statement of commitment up in a prominent position as soon as you receive the starter pack so your customers can see what you are trying to achieve.
  • Try and have information points in the seating or service areas with posters, leaflets and any other information you can give your customers about the healthyliving award, as this will help them to understand what it involves.
  • Use our apple logo menu paper to showcase your healthyliving choices, such as sandwich fillings or salad bar items, as this will make them stand out more to the customer.
  • And lastly – if you want some advice on using any type of resources relating to the healthyliving award, please contact Angela Tod on 0141 226 5261 or at atod@scotconsumer.org.uk

A flavour of…

Fruits of the Forest Pancakes

Recipe courtesy of BSkyB, Dunfermline

Method

1.  Put the flour in a bowl and make a well in the centre.  Break the eggs into the well and whisk, bringing in the flour from the edges.  Add 1 tsp sugar and cinnamon.

2.  Put the milk and water in a jug and pour into the bowl gradually, whisking into a smooth batter.

3. Heat a non-stick pan and pour in a tiny amount of oil. Wipe with kitchen paper to take away excess.

4. Pour a ladle of batter into the pan and swirl around until pan is coated.  Cook for 4 minutes then flip over with a palette knife and cook for 3 minutes on the other side. Repeat with remaining batter.

5. Stir the orange rind into the yogurt.

6. Spoon 1 tbsp of the fruit onto each pancake and fold.

7. Serve hot and finish with spoon of natural yogurt and grated orange.

100g plain wholemeal flour
2 medium-sized eggs
