Others follow as healthyliving award leads the way.

For many years now, Scotland has led the way in encouraging the catering sector to provide healthy options.  National awards, such as the healthyliving award, were established for caterers wanting to make it easier for their customers to eat healthily when dining out, and now other parts of the UK are following our lead. 

Restaurants and catering businesses in Wales that offer customers healthy choices can now apply for the Healthy Options Award, which was launched in April 2008.

Many local authorities in England are also looking to introduce similar schemes, and several have contacted the healthyliving award team to ask our advice and guidance about developing and running their own award programmes.  

We are delighted to be regarded as a model of national and international best practice. In addition to work with peers in the UK, we have provided advice to organisations from other countries, including Singapore, Australia, Gibraltar and New Zealand.

Request for new recipes

One of the key roles of the healthyliving award team is promoting the award to consumers.  Recipes for healthyliving choices are very popular and we are always being asked for new, healthy recipe suggestions.   

The recipe booklet that we developed last year proved so popular that we have now almost run out, so we are starting to compile a second edition and we would also like to host a greater range of recipes on the new website.

If you would like to submit recipes, we would be delighted to hear from you.  All dishes are welcome, but healthyliving choice puddings and home baking suggestions are particularly popular!

Please submit your recipes to coretalk@healthylivingaward.co.uk, and we will credit all recipes published with the details of the establishment that sent them.
