Tasty Morsels

Industry Turns Out To Hear About Taste Our Best

Over 70 industry members from across Greater Glasgow and Clyde Valley attended a workshop on Friday 31 January at The Corinthian Club to hear about Visit Scotland’s new food and drink quality assurance scheme, Taste Our Best.

Taste Our Best is the new quality assurance scheme designed to drive change in use and promotion of Scottish produce, which responds to identified consumer demand.

The workshop gave attendees the opportunity to find out about the scheme and how they can benefit from getting involved.

They heard from Ryan James, owner of the Two Fat Ladies and Chairman at The Glasgow Restaurant Association, about his experiences of sourcing Scottish produce.

They also heard from local producer Craven Cooper from Equi’s Ice Cream, and had the opportunity to sample local food from a number of the region’s suppliers.

Attendees also heard from Aileen Lamb of Scottish Enterprise and Fiona Richmond from Scotland Food & Drink who talked about the Commonwealth Games Legacy Food Charter with its Scottish first sourcing criteria.

Taste Our Best workshops are being held across the country between January and March 2014.
