Catriona Bason is a cook for the Scottish Society for Autism at Ridgepark House in Lanark, a centre providing transition and assessment services for young adults with autism.

We asked Catriona about her experience of the healthyliving award:

  • Q. What were your main reasons for applying for the healthyliving award?
  • A. As a cook, it made sense for me to go for this award as I would be implementing the new menus. It also gave the kitchen recognition for what we were already doing.
  • Q. Do you feel that working towards and achieving the award has been worthwhile?
  • A. Yes, as a cook it makes you think more about the food you serve and how to promote healthy eating.
  • Q. Would you recommend the healthyliving award to other caterers?
  • A. It’s not difficult to do, you get lots of help, and you will be surprised at how little changes you probably need to make.
