healthyliving award – a win-win situation

Healthyliving award winners are quick to realise that providing healthier options on menus has benefits for them as well as the customer.

They recognise the need to provide healthier options for their customers and the growing demand for a wider variety and bigger range of healthy choices. The first batch of award winners believe this can open up economic opportunities for them whilst at the same time improving the nation’s health.

Some of the caterers who successfully achieved the healthyliving award commented:

  • “There is heightened customer awareness of healthy options and without doubt, we have witnessed increased demand from people who want healthy choices and not ready cooked meals or processed food.” Suzi Player, Almond Catering’s general manager at Registers of Scotland.
  • “People come in here for a treat so it was important for us not to put people off but the opposite has happened, with people regularly asking when we are introducing more healthier options.”

Pam Marrs, manager of The Chest, Heart and Stroke Coffee Shop in
Inverness.

  • “There are a lot of chefs in Scotland making efforts to serve up healthier options and this new award is an excellent way of getting recognition for this.”

Len Cumming, head chef at Lazels Restaurant within Peebles Hotel
Hydro.

These establishments have tapped into the benefits of keeping up with changing customer demands. As a result they are now reaping the rewards of providing their customers with what they want.

On the buses

You may have seen our adverts appear on buses across Scotland or in national newspapers. Over the last few months we have been promoting the healthyliving award and its associated apple brand to help make sure consumers recognise and look out for the apple logo when they are eating out.

The extensive advertising campaign will continue to run over the coming months.

We know that an easily recognisable logo is helpful for customers who wish to make healthier food choices when they are eating out.

It is our aim to make the apple symbol a driver when the public chooses where and what to eat. Caterers will reap the benefits of being associated with a widely recognised national brand.

We are doing our best to raise consumer awareness and demand for healthier choices. It is now up to you to meet customer demand and get the recognition you deserve.
